Our first anchorage in Prince William Sound was Garden Cove, which derived it's name from garden Island, where Capt. Portlock in 1789 planted an experimental garden. This anchorage was surrounded by tall jagged snow covered peaks. Last day in Hoonah.I walked out to the tourist area this morning and was treated to two gray whales just barely off shore. It was wonderful and serene. Kept my eyes open for bear!! We are tucked away in a little bay on Tenakee Inlet, surrounded by mountains covered in snow. We look daily for bear with no luck so far, but lots of deer sightings. Jim has been working on Cape St. James getting her ready to untie the lines the end of April and head north. Our plan is to slowly make our way to Cape Spencer, then into Prince William Sound and west to Kodiak Island, with lots of stops to enjoy the scenery on the way, not to mention the fishing and shrimping. A friend called me this morning and asked if I'd like to join her for a quick swim. I would have loved to but.... I had to wash the dog, scrub the decks, fish for dinner, clean the carpets, rebuild the computer, change a tire, build a bird house and plant a garden.At least it was a beautiful day.
